There comes a time in all of our lives when we must ask ourselves three imperative questions:
1) Where am I now?
2) Where do I want to be?
3) How am I going to get there?
Looking around, what is it that I see?
- Hundreds of cars
- Pigeon limping around on their one remaining stubble of a limb
- Advertisements
- Children wanting
- Adults desiring
- Smiles and laughter
- Families
- Friends
My point is: where is my place within this noise?
The easy statement would be that I am a crew member at TJ’s, and a future marketer. I have been studying Marketing, its concepts and theories for over four years. However, where do I sit within this manipulation of sorts?
Marketing is so interesting, for in this field we strive to understand people, their wants and needs.
My personal marketing perspective lies within my ethical values as a human, the fact that we are all a small piece in this big picture, and we all matter. It is my goal as a marketer to be sure that I promote products and services that benefit the whole [Earth]. Every person and company holds the power to be sustainable. Companies need to acknowledge the facts: our world is shifting due to increased demands, abuse of natural resources, and the manipulation of the systems. The limits to our capabilities are only those that we ourselves create.
It is my goal to market products and services that are made sustainably, by companies that hold sustainable ethical beliefs, morals, and values. I strive to work for a company that will make me feel compassionate and proud to be a part of.
If our society could become less motivated by wants that pollute our earth as well as the minds within, then perhaps we could begin to see the possibilities of change. If we could take a step back and not concentrate on financial bottom lines and stockholder compensation, then perhaps we could acknowledge the wonderful good.
Now you know where I’m going. Where are you headed?
